Vesuvius is VTLUUG's 4rd(?)[1] generation NFS server donated by jpo. It aims to replace Dirtycow and host storage for most of our services.

It is a Qumulo 4U-Capacity SAN, with 128GiB DDR4, 2x Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2620 v3 @ 2.40GHz, and 36 bays total.

It is currently installed as NixOS, on a 64GB SSD, netbooting the cluster.

It currently one (manually created) RAID-Z2 pool mounted at /forge with 8 drives of 12 Tb each. We have capacity for 48(!) drives, but still only paper (and tape) caddies.
