'''Image2math''' is a undergraduate research project that is part of the #REDIRECT [[Assistive Technologies Lab]] group. The student research and faculty advising is done by individuals in the [[Electrical and Computer Engineering]] and [[Computer Science]] departments.The image2math initiative is part of the overall [[Assistive Technologies Research Initiative]] who's aim is to research and develop software (or possibly hardware in the future) to assist people with disabilities. The [[Assistive Technologies Lab]] is controlled by Bill Holbach (holbach@vt.edu) and Hal Brackett (brackett@vt.edu).  The gp:Image2Math project is aimed a comprehensive software that can take a scanned image of a math equation and output it as MathML files so they can be used with MathML compatible software (such as Mozilla, SoundAPIs, and even MathML solvers). The project is still in alpha development by students who work as either Independent Research or voluntary.
