The following items are considered harmful by various VTLUUG members and should be avoided:

  • TrendNET managed switches (e.g. TEG-240WS). These lack basic management features as well as SSH and telnet capabilities and are incompatible with modern browsers.
  • Comcast
  • NTC
  • DyKnow
  • HTML email
  • Web-CAT
  • Hostnames that violate RFC 1178
  • USB serial adapters with a Prolific chipset
