Available Linux and BSD Mirrors on Campus

Virginia Tech hosts mirrors for several distributions, including Ubuntu, Fedora, and Gentoo.

  • Campus Computing mirrors are available at http://mirror.cc.vt.edu/ They host mirrors for Ubuntu, Gentoo, Fedora, OpenSUSE and a number of other more popular distributions

Note: To access via RSYNC, leave out /pub/ from the URL.

  • The Virginia Bioinformatics Institute mirrors most of these large distibutions as well. A list of VBI mirrors is at http://mirrors.vbi.vt.edu/.

Note: These servers tend to have good uptime and excellent transfer speeds.

  • The Computer Science Department runs a relatively old machine that mirrors for a few smaller distributions of Linux, including Arch and Knoppix. Their mirrors are available at http://mirror.cs.vt.edu/.
