The following items are considered harmful by various VTLUUG members and should be avoided:
- TrendNET managed switches (e.g. TEG-240WS). These lack basic management features as well as SSH and telnet capabilities and are incompatible with modern browsers.
- Comcast
- NTC
- DyKnow
- Respondus LockDown Browser
- Tablet requirement
- Duo 2FA. VTLUUG, while mostly strong supporters of 2-factor authentication, agrees Duo is a poor implementation
- HTML email
- Web-CAT
- Hostnames that violate RFC 1178
- USB serial adapters with a Prolific chipset
- Mastering Physics
- Internet of Things
