Long file names are file and folder names that don't conform to the 8-character base, 3-character extension format that was once popular on PCs. Although Walls recognizes long file names and allows their use for folders and project script files (extension WPJ), it's a requirement that survey data files (extension SRV) have base names no longer than 8-characters. This restriction is due to compatibility concerns, field lengths in database tables, and the fact that Walls already maintains and displays fully descriptive titles for those survey files.
