Dtella
,no edit summary
Dtella is a decentralized direct connect hub used for file sharing. Because it's able to restrict file sharing to a specific IP range, Dtella is ideal for usage at low-latency campus networks where upload limits are imposed for external traffic. Open source software for a Virginia Tech Dtella hub is hosted on [http://github.com/matthazinski github]. Instructions for other operating systems are available at [http://dtellavtluug.nfshost.com http:org/files/2012/dtella.nfshost.com/instructions/]
== Linux Installation Instructions ==

$ chmod +x dtella

* Install a DC++ client, such as [httpshttp://launchpadcode.netgoogle.com/p/linuxdcpp LinuxDCeiskaltdc EiskaltDC++] (in Arch. The QT version is recommended, use linuxdcpp)as the GTK version has a known bug when selecting shared directories.
* Launch Dtella by executing
~/.dtella
, then launch your DC++ client and connect to localhost:7314
* You may or may not need to forward ports in order to get traffic through your firewall or router.
